Nurse Enjoys Challenge of Weekend Care
Ensuring our patients' comfort 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is a priority for our team. To make sure our patients are comfortable over the weekend, AutumnBridge Hospice has a dedicated weekend nurse.
Brenda Barker, LPN has over 11 years of hospice experience. She enjoys providing weekend care and understands the importance of being available through the weekend to assist patients and families.
"Families are very concerned and anxious, because it's the weekend," she says. "They are relieved we can take care of their needs, day or night."
Brenda enjoys the challenge of responding to a call, making an in-home visit to determine the patient's needs, and providing her assistance. She says weekend care is especially important for newly admitted patients and their families, because they are not aware of everything we offer.
"They become more relaxed when they learn there is a doctor on-call and our pharmacy is available to deliver medications," she explains.
Brenda's response to weekend calls and the exceptional care she provides plays a vital role in fulfilling our goal of keeping patients comfortable 24/7. AutumnBridge Hospice is fortunate to have Brenda on our team to provide care for our patients needing weekend assistance.
