Volunteering
Bereavement
Bereavement volunteers learn the principles of bereavement, with an emphasis on listening and communication skills. They work with our bereavement coordinator to assess grief recovery status and make home visits and telephone contacts as part of the bereavement follow-up.

Special projects
Special projects volunteers contribute their talents in many ways. Some help in our office by answering telephones, filing, handling data entry, or coordinating mailings. Others help patients with gardening or home maintenance. Volunteers with craft or sewing skills make gifts for our patients and their families.

How to volunteer
If you would like to learn more about becoming an AutumnBridge Hospice volunteer, call our office at 405.440.2440 and schedule a time to meet with our volunteer coordinator. Training programs are offered to meet your individual needs.
How Volunteers Help

AutumnBridge Hospice volunteers help in three areas: patient care, bereavement, and special projects.

Patient care
Patient care volunteers work directly with patients and their families to address one of the fundamental fears of dying—being alone and isolated from others. Our volunteers provide a link to the community and help families access community life, resources, and activities. Patient care volunteers spend time one-on-one with patients, visiting, reading, playing games, singing, or enjoying a variety of activities depending on the volunteer’s talents and the patient’s and family's interests.
